Siena, Italy

Siena is a well preserved, purposefully maintained embodiment of a medieval city. It inhabits roughly 50,000 residents who are under strict rules that the exteriors of their residences must be true to historic standards and maintained to reflect its rich history.

Piazza del Campo is the city center and really a beautiful square.  I was really impressed by this massive square, the beautiful historically rich church, and the authenticity of the city walls.  Though there were a LOT of tourists, it added an energy and buzz that I quite enjoyed....it felt like we were discovering a new city among hordes of curious, adventurous people that were there to appreciate Siena's beautiful city.

Beautiful view of Siena from a distance and the following hillside as we drove back to Monteriggioni.
