We met with our lovely friends AK & ZK for dinner at the Grimaldi's located Queens. While I haven't been to the original under the Brooklyn Bridge, I have heard a lot about this place from friends, as well from the Food Network which always includes Grimaldi's whenever they do a feature on pizza. The pizza was pretty tasty, but being from NYC, I think we are all pretty spoiled from the many offerings available to us. One of the many reasons I love NYC!
I like thin crust pizza and they serve up a couple of good pies. I did learn a lesson though and that is to choose your toppings wisely. After the pepperoni/basil pizza, the mushroom toppings didn't taste as good. ;)
Gimaldi's - 242-02 161st Avenue Douglaston, NY 11362
The one in Douglaston rarely has a long wait and plenty of parking - score!
Grimaldi's salad- Romaine Lettuce, Red Onion, Cherry Tomatoes, Oven Roasted Sweet Red Peppers, Mushrooms, Sicilian Green Olives, Vinaigrette Dressing PLUS we added fresh Mozzarella
ZK recommended a Pepperoni and Pesto combo - first time we had that duo and it was a hit.
(Boring) Mushroom topping (sorry guys, I picked this which was really a weak following after the pepperoni/pesto winner)
