Live Octopus for Dinner...not your traditional bday dinner

Today is Hubby's birthday and he's been wanted to try live baby octopus while in Korea so we decided to try this place on his birthday.  I figured it would make for a memorable meal and though I wasn't particularly interested in eating this, I wanted to be a good sport so off we went.

We saw a review for Gasiri on CNN: Best of Seoul and decided to try it out.  This chain consists of 3 restaurants spread out across parts of Seoul, and we decided to try the specific one listed in the article.  They specialize only in seafood with tanks displayed in their windows with live octopus, eel, and other fish.

This place was not very easy to find  and located in a quieter area of Seoul.  This was a bit of an adventure, and we were happy to finally arrive at a truly local, Seoul establishment.  This place is so 'Korean' that not a lick of English is spoken and we struggled ordering with our Konglish (half Korean/half English) communication skills.  We eventually got our message across and out came a plate of squiggly, little octopus legs.

Hubby liked it which was all that mattered.  I may not be a fan, but I am a good sport and tried a few pieces., three to be exact.  That was more than enough to satisfy any current and future craving.  :)

I will update with video later, but just imagine all these little pieces moving around on the plate.  Yum...?

As for this particular restaurant,I wouldn't recommend it.  There are a lot of other great seafood options that offer the same menu and were half the costs.  This plate cost us $50USD and I noticed later in the week there were other restaurants that only charged $25USD in the Shinsa area which was much closer to the heart of Seoul.
