Angel in Us Coffee & Ewha University

We woke up early in search of coffee.  In Korea, there are SO many coffee chains that are unfamiliar to us that after passing several cafes, we finally decided to just get our morning brew from here.  We got two large iced coffees, roughly 16 ounces of bleh coffee.  I learned later that this place is well known because it was featured in a popular Korean drama, and unfortunately, not famous for its actual coffee.  BUT paired with our cheap breakfast treat (featured below), it was satisfying enough.

I was excited about Korean street food.  I don't know why as I would NOT eat NYC street food, but for some reason, it is okay for me to do so in Seoul.  It just feels...cleaner for some reason.  We walked by a grandma making these sandwiches in her stall.  She was making Kim Bap and these breakfast sandwiches that consisted of any combination of buttered toast, a veggie egg omelet, ham and/or cheese.  Prices ranged from 1.50 USD to 2.50 USD.   She tray where you pay - you put either exact change into the jar or you show her how much you are putting in and then take your change.  She doesn't handle the money as she is already gloved and cooking food.  We picked up an egg, cheese and ham sandwich and split it.  It was very filling and can't complain about a breakfast that cost less (and tasted better) than one iced coffee!

Prior to coming to Korea, I did quite a bit of research and read somewhere that the Starbucks in Insadong is the ONLY Starbucks in the WORLD where the name Starbucks is not written in English.  This photo was taken in Jongro-Gu and NOT in Insadong.  As a matter of fact, we saw 4 or 5 Starbucks written in Korean characters so I think the author probably only hung out in Insadong.  lol

We met with a friend that resides in Korea and had a very lovely dinner at Palseak Samgyepsal  before heading off to do a night walk around Ehwa University, a top rated all women's college.  The photo below is the only somewhat clear'ish image I have, but it doesn't do justice to the beautiful campus.   My IQ went up just walking around there.

After walking around the area, the three of us shared some pat bing su at Marie & Mark Cafe before calling it a night. Our first of the trip, but certainly not our last!
