Hubby Birthday Celebration - Minetta Tavern - New York City

It is a birthday tradition to eat steak on my husband's birthday and every year, I scour the internet to find somewhere to take him.  I did significantly less research this year thanks to Eater.com's ultimate burger survey.  I had been tracking the division winners and went to Minetta Tavern to try their Black Label Burger, which by the way, was worth every bite of its $26 price.

Anyway, we enjoyed those burgers so much that he asked to go there for his birthday to try their Cote de Boeuf.  He saw that on the menu and it had him at bone marrow.  http://www.minettatavernny.com/menus/dinner.pdf

For years, he raved about the first birthday steak I ever bought him which was an 18oz Ribeye from the Metropolitan Grill in Seattle, WA.  http://www.themetropolitangrill.com/menus/dinner/  Every birthday steak that followed, paled in comparison and the reputable steakhouses that followed couldn't really compete -  Peter Luger's, Quality Meats, Capital Grille, The Palm....until now.  It took six years, but finally, The Metropolitan Grill has lost its seat and Minetta Tavern now holds the crown.

A perfect finish to a perfect meal
