Divi Pheonix Village Resort, Aruba

We've gotten some really good bang for our buck from the Hilton Grand Vacation Club timeshare we purchased on our honeymoon.  It's funny because it was a big buy that we IMMEDIATELY regretted once we got home.  Now, five years later, we are grateful for it because the points are on a 'use it or lose it' type of system so it forces us to use it!

We've used our points to visit Miami, Cabo, San Diego, Sint Maartin, Barbados and now, Aruba.  Hawaii already on the books for October - thank you Hilton!

Anyway, this was a very nice trip.  Aruba is a very small island situated outside of the hurricane belt.  It is known for their breeze (read - windy) and infamous Charlies Bar (which we did NOT visit).

Our Stay: Divi Pheonix Village Resort (in the high rise section – Palm Beach).  Traded in our timeshare for a one bedroom apartment.
Duration: 5 lovely days
Currency: Aruban florin, but everywhere accepts US dollars (1.75 Florin to 1 USD) & credit cards
Language: Papiamento language (sounds like Spanish/Portugese), Dutch, but everyone spoke English

Day One Itinerary
Taxi ride to our resort, unpacked and hung out at PureBeach bar for a few pina coladas with dinner.  Enjoyed a nice stroll along the boardwalk and began the unwinding process on a hammock on Palm beach.  Not a bad way to start getting into the slow paced rhythm of the Caribbean.

Our bedroom (didn't get a photo of our living room area)

View from our 11th floor balcony
After a couple of cocktails, we enjoyed the view from under our palapa on Palm Beach
