We were unable to get a reservation to the French Laundry, but we found this gem that was hands down, our best meal in Napa.
This is Thomas Keller's casual establishment just a few short blocks from the French Laundry, famous for its farm to table meals. Ad Hoc sources they produce from the same garden as the French Laundry and every bite was excellent.
The menu changes daily featuring a 3 course meal (plus option fourth course) served family style at a reasonable pre-fixe price per person. Our menu for the day below - and yes, we opted for the shrimp and yes, it was soo good.
I made this reservation a month in advance and was so glad we did. Everything was cooked perfectly and every server had a warm, genuine smile. In retrospect, I wish we ate there every night and if we end up back in Napa and Ad Hoc is still going strong, that is exactly what we intend to do.
