First impressions aren't always right...Koryodang, Fort Lee, NJ

I remember the first time I had this..I think I was in high school.  A good friend June recommended I try it so I ordered one for myself.  She dove into hers with such enthusiasm that I was excited to dive in.  I clearly remember June’s expression when I took my first bite.  My reaction was….visceral.  What the heck is this crap?

I remember my second memory of trying it again a year later with another friend who was visiting from Korea.  When I told her how awful my first time was she was shocked.  She just couldn’t comprehend how I didn’t like it.  So we went to a fancy schmancy bakery and I tried it again.  I took a big spoonful was like – what the F.  This is the BEST THING I ever ate.

I guess a person’s taste buds change over time and I’m glad I didn’t give up.   This Pat Bing Su from Koryodang (pictured above - Fort Lee) was extra special.  On this lazy Sunday afternoon, hubby mentions he is the mood for pat bing su.  This was the first I’ve heard him say this especially since it is usually me that chanting "I want pat bing su...gimme pat bing su". It was a lovely surprise that he suggested it first.  So off we went….and after devouring this (alone), I realize he didn’t really want it.  He just said it because he knew I did.  He is the best!
